What is BRDF?

In 3D visualization, BRDF (bidirectional reflectance distribution function) is an important concept to understand. Simply put, BRDF defines how light is reflected off of an object in different directions. This affects the appearance of objects in 3D scenes, so it’s crucial to get it right when creating 3D models.

There are a variety of factors that go into creating a good BRDF. One key consideration is the type of material the object is made from. For example, metals typically reflect light differently than plastics or fabrics. Another important factor is the angle at which light hits the object. A surface that’s perpendicular to the light source will reflect more light than one that’s angled away from it.
